Meet your CTA president - Ed Bufford

Ed Bufford is the CTA president. He has worked as a teacher, as Maryvale's unit chair, and now holds the highest office in CTA. Once Ed gets his release time set up, he'll be working out of the CTA offices downtown, but in the meantime you can find him on the Maryvale campus.

CTA meeting is tomorrow; recent issues

Welcome back, Panthers! We will be having our first CTA meeting of the year tomorrow afternoon. Meet in room 101 at 2:45 for the latest information on everything CTA.

One issue that we will need to consider this year - both as teachers and as voters - is the proposal for redistricting. This will have effects on every single one of us, so it is quite important that we understand exactly what redistricting means and the affects it will have on our district.

For information on the redistricting proposal and rationale, please visit the ADE redistricting commission's site.

Other districts are also considering this proposal. Take a look at the Osborn district's recommendations and see how their board has decided to proceed.

This issue is not going to go away, and it is in the best interest of our students that we be informed about any plans to redistrict. Don't delude yourself into thinking you can remain blissfully ignorant - we need EVERY teacher to know exactly what is going on with this plan!
